West Campus Positions and Programs

Rooted in a vision developed by Cornell faculty and students, the West Campus House System extends opportunities for student growth beyond the doors of classrooms and labs and into residence halls. Shared meals with professors, in-house seminars and talks, tutoring and academic planning sessions, and stress-busting study breaks ranging from salsa dancing and yoga to Monday Night Football and Friday night dance parties are all part of house life.

Types of support

Cornell welcomes gifts of all sizes. Select naming opportunities are described below.

House professor and dean: $2 million

House professors are distinguished senior faculty who are devoted to encouraging faculty-student interactions beyond the traditional classroom. They reside on West Campus, provide intellectual and social leadership, work closely with student leaders and house fellows, and create opportunities for informal social, artistic, and intellectual programming.

Graduate resident fellowship: $1 million per house or $200,000 for individual fellowships

There are six graduate resident fellows in each West Campus house. Graduate resident fellows serve as mentors and role models to undergraduate students and work to create vibrant and engaging residential communities through program development, academic support, and student development.

House programming endowment: $500,000

A student-run council in each West Campus house initiates house events and advises fellow residents who would like to hold programs, ensuring that all house residents feel welcome to attend house-sponsored events. An endowment will help fund a variety of program options in each house, such as readings, field trips, musical events, and discussion groups.

See the Gift Guide for more funding options for West Campus positions and programs.
