Flora Rose House

Construction on the fifth and last West Campus house was completed shortly before the residence was named for Flora Rose.

Rose (1874-1959), who was recruited to Cornell in 1906 as a lecturer in nutrition, worked with colleague Martha Van Rensselaer to establish the Department of Home Economics, which has evolved into today's College of Human Ecology.

Rose House is operating as a traditional student residence for the 2008-09 academic year and will open as a full-fledged West Campus house in 2009.
