Noyes Community Recreation Center

"The new Noyes Community Recreational Center has transformed West Campus from a lonely series of residence halls into a cohesive, dynamic environment. Plus, the gelato is to-die-for."
—editorial, The Cornell Daily Sun, Nov. 6, 2007

The new Noyes Community Recreation Center (NCRC) opened in January 2007 and is helping Cornell meet the high demand for recreational, social, and fitness activities across West Campus.

The center serves West Campus residents as well as students who live in the surrounding neighborhood, including the area's cooperative living houses, fraternities, and sororities. It boasts state-of-the-art equipment and the latest in fitness technology. Features include a gymnasium, fitness center, multipurpose room, bouldering wall, wireless internet access, and more.

An anchor for the entire West Campus community, NCRC upholds the high standards set by the Robert Purcell Community Center and Appel Commons on North Campus for providing quality facilities and services that meet contemporary student needs.

The name of the new center reaffirms the leadership of Jansen Noyes Sr. '10; his wife, Agnes Blancke Noyes; and the continuing generosity of their son Jansen Noyes Jr. '39 and other members of the Noyes family. Their foresight and initiative helped construct the previous Noyes Center, which has been demolished.
