Announcing the Tisch University Professorships
As we celebrate the creation of the Tisch University Professorships, I am honored and delighted to recognize and thank Andrew and Ann Tisch for their remarkable generosity on behalf of Cornell. Over two decades of service—including five years as a leader on the Board of Trustees—Andrew Tisch has helped shape Cornell’s character, while also helping to guide its future course. He and Ann share a strong commitment to supporting and advancing education at all levels, and they have made a profound difference at this institution.
The stewardship of a great university has global significance, influencing the lives and careers of students, the discoveries of scholars, and the attainment and application of scientific knowledge that affects people the world over. The Tisch University Professorships are intended to help Cornell achieve its highest potential by building a distinguished cadre of scholars, throughout the university, who are at the cutting edge of their fields. In making this gift, Andrew and Ann Tisch will forever be linked to Cornell’s success—its power to enrich students’ lives, to foster meaningful scholarship and life-changing research, and to remain a beacon of intellectual discovery. Cornell is profoundly grateful for their generosity, vision, and unwavering confidence in the university and the teachers and scholars who determine its reputation and impact.
